STRIVE’s Out-Of-School Youth GED/Medical Information Technician Training Program is an intensive program that will cover the topics you need to get a livable wage job in the health field. For those without a HS diploma or GED, GED classes will be provided prior to training. You must complete (or have completed) our CORE Attitudinal workshop in order to qualify for a place in our GED/Medical Information Technician Training Program. Those that already have their HS diploma or GED will go straight into the hard skills training after CORE.

- Full-time commitment, 8:45am to 5pm, Monday through Friday

The panel is kicking off our newest initiative “STRIVE for the Future.” In the summer of 2012, STRIVE was awarded a 3-year, $5 million grant by the US Department of Labor to serve juvenile offenders in high-risk communities across the country. This program, “STRIVE for the Future,” will provide services for youth ages 14 and older who have been involved with the juvenile justice system in the previous 12 months, in order to prevent them from becoming involved in the adult system. STRIVE will serve 400 juvenile offenders nationwide through this grant.

Our panel on “Context and Lessons for Serving Juvenile Offenders” will allow a group of distinguished experts to ground our affiliate leaders with a larger picture of this important need, trends in the field, and best practices in serving this population.

Our four panelists are:

David Jones, President & CEO, Community Service Society
Howard Knoll, Senior Director, Casey Family Programs

Join STRIVE and Silberman School of Social Work for a screening of Sundance Channel’s newest original series “Get to Work.” This docu-series follows participants in the STRIVE program at our location in San Diego, as they work to move past histories of incarceration, substance abuse, homelessness and other obstacles to employment and develop the skills and attitudes they need to find and keep work.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the show and the issues presented in it. Our panelists include:
